TAORMINA

The Town Hall in Taormina is an early 1700's building situated directly on the fashionable main Corso Umberto pedestrianised shopping street. Weddings take place in the Sala Consiglio which is a large impressive room used by the Mayor and the town council for their political meetings. A characteristic marble stairway leads from the entrance courtyard up to the first floor where the wedding hall is located.

GIARDINI NAXOS

One of Sicily's most popular beach resorts at the foot of Taormina. The Town Hall in Giardini Naxos dates back to the mid 1800's and is located in a square overlooking the sea front in the residential part of the town. Weddings take place in the Mayors Office which is very intimate and ideal for a smaller informal ceremony.

CEFALU'

The Town Hall of Cefalù is a large recently renovated building located right in the heart of the charming old fishing town, directly opposite the imposing Norman Cathedral and main town square. Weddings take place in the Sala delle Capriate which is a pleasant and very spacious room on the first floor with a very particular wooden beamed ceiling.

OUTLINE OF A CIVIL WEDDING CEREMONY IN SICILY

The bride, groom and their two compulsory witnesses stand or sit in front of the celebrant. There is seating for family and friends close by. The formatted ceremony is conducted in Italian in stages by the celebrant and then translated into English at each stage by the interpreter. The ceremony lasts approximately 25 minutes in total and there is a moment halfway through the ceremony during the exchange of rings when the couple can personalise the ceremony with their own short speeches to each other. In conclusion the bride and groom, the two witnesses, the interpreter and the celebrant all sign the wedding act and the couple are proclaimed married.

Music can be added as an optional extra to enhance the ceremony before and
after and also during the exchange of rings and the signing of the wedding act

Floral arrangements can be ordered to decorate the wedding hall

Video cameras and photography are permitted inside the wedding hall
and a professional photography service can also be arranged for you

Rice and confetti can be thrown outside on the street afterwards
